# Scenes

A scene is the environment your robot spawns into. You pick one when you start
the sim:

```text theme={null}
GRID # sim start
```

## Industrial and infrastructure

| Scene | Description |
| - | - |
| `substation` | Electrical substation with transformers and power lines |
| `electric_central` | Power-generation site with wind turbines |
| `oil_rig` | Offshore oil rig with platforms, cranes, and walkways |
| `warehouse_big` | Large warehouse environment |
| `hangar` | Airplane hangar environment |

These are the inspection scenes — tight geometry, repeated structure, and the
kind of clutter that makes visual navigation hard.

## Outdoor and natural

| Scene | Description |
| - | - |
| `nordic_forest` | Nordic forest environment with trees, rocks, and terrain |
| `forest_fire` | Forest fire scenario with trees, smoke, and fire effects |
| `abandoned_building` | Abandoned building and surroundings with debris and narrow passages |

`forest_fire` carries live smoke and fire effects, which makes it the useful
one for testing perception under degraded visibility.

## Planetary

| Scene | Description |
| - | - |
| `moon` | Moon surface environment with craters and rocks |
| `mars` | Mars surface environment with rocks, dust, and terrain |

## Minimal

| Scene | Description |
| - | - |
| `blocks` | Simple Blocks environment |
| `empty` | Empty world |

`blocks` is the fastest scene to load and the right default when you are
testing control logic rather than perception. `empty` gives you a bare world to
place your own objects into.

<Note>
  Scene availability depends on your organization's asset access. If a scene you
  expect is missing from the CLI picker, reach out on our
  [Discord Community](https://discord.gg/yPtfUNDe5M) or by
  [email](mailto:info@generalrobotics.company).
