# Cameras

> Cameras a robot can carry

Cameras a robot can carry — attached by the robot's config under a name you choose, and reached as `robot.<name>` or `robot.sensors["<name>"]`. Each class lists what that camera can do beyond a plain `getImage()`: a stereo pair, its intrinsics, its extrinsics.

## Install

```bash theme={null}
# Preinstalled in every GRID session workspace and in the Python environment the
# GRID CLI prepares when you run a program with `skill run`. Nothing to install.
```

## Quickstart

```python theme={null}
from grid_nexus_client import make_robot
robot = make_robot("<robot-name>")
print(list(robot.sensors))                    # the camera names this robot was configured with
# A ZED attached as "zed_usb_1": the robot-level read forwards to it,
# and the stereo methods are reached on the camera itself.
rgb = robot.getImage("zed_usb_1").data
left, right = robot.sensors["zed_usb_1"].getStereoImagePair()
K = robot.sensors["zed_usb_1"].getCameraMatrix()
```

Which camera a robot carries is set in its config when it is added. Values returned are **grid-types** (`Image`; call [`decode()`](/v2.2/python-api/grid-types/image) for an ndarray). The robot pages under **Robots** say when a camera is built in rather than attached.
